"Why is their deer meat in the car?"

So to start out this week. We have had a week full of miracles. It has been one of the coolest things I have ever seen. It has been so great. We have recently been emphasizing getting members involved and it just feels so great cause it feels like we are not just doing it alone.

Monday: we had a p day with our whole zone. Let me tell you it was pretty great we played trash ball. Which is pretty much ultimate frisbee with a volleyball and you are supposed to hit a trash can under the hoop so that was way fun.  I wrecked my ankle again, but I guess that was karma for playing on it. We then had dinner. Then we went on mini exchanges and I went with Elder Stoddard and the highlight of it some dude fell trying to run away from us. Man we must be scary or something.

Tuesday: shout out to my companion Elder Householder he had a dream that he would fix these two bikes at the zone leaders and he ended up fixing them. So now we have transportation when our car share is out of town. So we fixed them pretty much all day then we got on the bikes and biked to the appointment at the church. We took the wrong way lol and ended up going an extra mile so I biked like five miles. But I also was dumb with bike gears and was in high gear and was so tired as Elder Householder was peddling his bike in circles around me haha.

Wednesday: We went on exchanges with Elder Madsen and Barker and we went to downtown to the Department of Commerce for service opportunities and so we went there and then went to lunch at Taco Hangover basically an overpriced taco place that has a bunch of beverages that conflict the word of wisdom. So then we went to a lesson and Elder Barker and I  taught a lesson to a recent convert and went and found some people and chilled that night so it was so good.

Thursday: We arose to all find out the real reason why The Taco Hangover is called taco hangover. We all woke up with the worst stomach aches of all time we were dying. So we all slept it off and then got on with our day. We did some weekly planning that day. So it was good.

Friday:  We had district council and we had exchanges with our zone leaders and it was lit. I went with Elder Judy and we went by a lot of people and they did not answer so that was not fun but we did talk to a lady about Iowa Hawkeye basketball. Funny story so we get a call from Elder Householder and Stoddard and they had said that the door to our apartment is locked and us being missionaries basically means pretty much no one knows were the keys are 95% of the time. We were like oh no. So we broke into the apartment through a window that was unlocked haha. At least we know the lock works actually it's a bar on a sliding door because the lock is broken. We then went to Bdubs while the other Elders went to a dinner and they forgot about us for an hour and then the food took an hour. Plus they took off the pulled pork sandwich which made me mad. Long story short we saw the Aggies choked. Shout out to the Miller on the Aggies he was the only one who showed up.

Saturday:  We finished the exchange and let me say today was so good.  We balled out this morning and let's say I was hitting all right Elder Judy and I show up to this referral in Des Moines and she was asking us about Baptism so we  extended a date of baptism for her and she seems so golden. Then we came back to Ankeny and got in a bash for two hours. Let's just say the spirit was flying in and out. Also we left the place with some extreme anti. But in the end I think I handled the bash pretty well because I was testifying of things from in the Old Testament and Book Of Mormon. So it was pretty great pulling out all these scriptures I had no idea I could remember. Just tells you if you study the spirit will bring things to your remembrance. We then had dinner and dope comp study featuring the zls.

Sunday: Awoke and went to ward council and then went to church and then went to choir practice. Funny thing I had not been to a choir practice since Macomb and we are singing the same song. The funny thing about this is one of the young men is a homie and he was hooking me up with sports updates as we both tried to act like we could sing bass. We then went home and studied I was studying like a mad man I read so many books and scriptures. We then had a lesson with this African family and they gave us fufu which is bland but with this slimy beef that the texture made you want to gag so I had to drink a lot of water. So then we went to dinner and Elder Judy and Madsen needed the car they were on exchanges and drove it  outside of town and then had dinner and then drove back and the car smelt like dead dear and lol. Elder Householder and I were like ugh we put that in our stomachs. So that was fun.

**Note from mom. After talking to Caylor on Pday I  asked him about the dead deer meat, it was not actually venison it was an African beef meal that they had at their dinner appointment (fufu) that the other missionaries thought smelled like dead deer meat.

I hope you all have a great week and as a challenge I would like to give you is reach out to someone who could use some help.

Love yall

Ankles/Ball/Transfers

Monday: So we emailed and then went on a tiny exchange with some missionaries that came for a dentist appointment which was pretty fun so we had a blast with them and found some people.

Tuesday: I found out I was staying in Ankeny another Transfer and receiving another companion Elder Householder. We then went out and said by to the families for Elder Littlefield.

Wednesday: it was super p day so we called home. There was a basketball tournament of us missionaries that I played in it was fun I was on fire . Then we had to go to our mission nurses house for another missionary in our car share and her husband's a doctor. So we all got talking and one of us had a bad shoulder and one of us had bad knees. But I rolled my ankle the last Thursday and it was still hurting so I asked him I was like I don't think this is anything but my ankle is still hurting he looked at it and he told me I have a in between severe/mild high ankle sprain so that was kind of funny but at the same time painful.

Thursday: it was transfers so I was chilling with some missionaries and went and visited a recent convert who is like a Liberian rock star and he gave us fufu and it was so strong my eyes were watering as i put it down. We then went back to Ankeny had dinner then went and played some ball with non members.

Friday: we had a few lessons it was a pretty good day.

Saturday: We did our weekly planning in a town in the other elders area and they ended up getting us dinner as well. The family that fed us was super cool and they had a smart baby.

Sunday: We went to church and studied then we cleaned a tiny bit then someone asked us if we wanted a organ so we were like sure why not so they ended up bringing us a organ from 1971. We then had dinner and it was pretty good. Then we had a lesson with a guy that Elder Littlefield and Scorezby were working with and so we found his address after not having it and had a deep doctrine conversation with this guy.

So that's my week. I would encourage all of you to find ways that you can reach out to people that may need a friend.

Also go Aggies of course after a ten year trash period they do good when I can't watch them.

Worldwide Cuisine, Plus the Rain

o Monday we just went to Des Moines and it was pretty good we spent a lot of time looking at basketball shoes. Then we went back to the church in Ankeny to just relax and finish the remainder of our p day. We also taught a 14 year old girl who is in a part member family and that went well. We taught her how to pray and her dad testified of pray so that was really good.

Tuesday: We just went out and we knocked it was pretty average. We then had dinner and then had a lesson with a guy named John he is super cool and served in the Army for 26 years so he has been to quite a few places and he loves hunting he has a bear and a few elk in his house.

Wednesday: We woke up and went to district council then Elder Littlefield had to get some cavities fixed so I spent time at a dental office with a bunch of TV shows from the 40's and 50's playing. I then went on exchanges with Elder Barker and we went to his area and went to a town called Altoona. So we knocked and found a guy who reminded me of a kind Iowan from  Uncle Rico. We went by a ton of their people as well. A cool experience that came out of this is that we went to get a beverage  and we went into this Pilot mega gas station. Honestly it felt like the cross country road trips my family and I would go on. We had gotten our beverage and we were checking out. Then the cashier started telling us we need to come around more often because she said she recognized we were not only missionaries but missionaries of Jesus Christ which was really cool. She also said all the truckers need Jesus. So that was cool. I thought Altoona was going to be a poe dunk town, but it had a giant outlet mall. Plus it had a giant horse racing track/casino. I had not seen a horse racing track since Kentucky. It was called Prairie Meadows .

Thursday: Nothing pretty much happened I rolled my ankle playing basketball so that's just been a pain to deal with. So lesson don't fall on your ankle funny.

Friday:  I went on a exchange with one of my Zone Leaders Elder Judy and he has been super fun to serve around for six months. We always have weird stuff happen to us when we are on exchanges together. So we drove down to Des Moines cause he is over the YSA, which his area is legit like half of Iowa. So we went downtown. Traffic was ridiculous due to state high school basketball games going on. It was a super fun city to go to. We spent most of our day in west Des Moines. It was pretty fun. Pretty much everyone we talked to was straight up  rude. Elder Judy and I felt like we couldn't do anything we just kept on knocking and we both had this off colored feeling, but we felt like we needed to continue.  So we did we got mocked by like 3 or 4 people and we were like eh let's just keep knocking and we knocked into this woman who seemed way open and she proceeded to tell us she was busy, but would love for us to come back. Then that dark feeling went away and the spirit was so strong. So I guess the lesson is when life gets dark and dreary just relay on God and darkness is before the dawn.

Saturday: Elder Judy and I  got ready and the other elders left out of town and so we decided to journey to their apartment to get his phone with the sim card. Well it was raining pretty hard and their were some massive puddles. Elder Judy was getting wrecked cause he had low cut shoes on but I had my good old Keen Boots just walking straight through them and my feet were not wet at all. We then went to knock and we found 4 people that seemed genuinely interested at a nicer apartment complex we were hyped. We also passed out all of our Book of Mormons and the other elders were in a lesson for like two hours and and they had a another lesson so we got stuck there for a while. We tried to knock without a Book Of Mormon, but that just does not work haha. So we just walked to a near Casey's and then back to the complex to wait for the other elders. We had not eaten lunch so we were like let's go to a buffet and it was 4:00 at this point so all of them were dinner prices so we were like Mexican restaurants give us a lot of food for like half the price so we went to one and it was some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had.  We then got invited to a Filipino  family with our zone leaders and it was a unique cuisine. They kept on making fun of the white boys who need a fork cause they legit eat with their hands.  Then we had a dinner appointment which was good but we ended up eating a ton we all felt sick afterward.

Sunday:  We went to church and stuff which was good pretty much nothing happened other than we went to a dinner with a guy from England and we had a bunch of English food which was good. Then we did Come Follow Me time with all the elders and that turned into a deep doctrine show.

So in our mission we have been asked to show the "This is Church Video" and the "Welcome" video and both can be used as missionary tools. I encourage all of you to look at those videos and even share where you feel to share them.

Love y'all

Zone Conference Featuring Basketball

That is pretty much my weak zone conference and playing basketball so that makes for a good week!

Monday: We played some basketball and talked to the family so that was cool we also went to Des Moines and to Burlington store and it was super fresh I got a cheap Iowa state sweatshirt and some shorts for $6 they also had some cool Chicago Bulls stuff so it makes me think the ones in Utah will have cool Jazz gear.

Tuesday: it was supposed to be our zone conferenc, but it got delayed so we just had a super normal day and it was pretty average.

Wednesday: We had zone conference today. We left early for dlc for my companion and the zone leaders. And it was pretty crazy because of the traffic it took an hour for a twenty minute drive so it was pretty crazy. When we got there it was good seeing everyone. We pretty much talked about how if we plan our day out more effectively we will see blessings and we definitely have seen so many blessings from it. It wasn't even that our old way of planning was bad but the way this new planning works is just like mini weekly planning everyday. It's pretty great.

Thursday:  we pretty much did nothing of interest maybe a few lessons. Thursday I balled out tho Elder Madsen and I aren't the best b-ball players, but we got put on the same team with an Elder who is way worse than us and lets just say we were like Stockton and Malone and we would have won if the guys we were playing didn't say lets go to 15 and we score fifteen before them, but they said it doesn't count so they "won" but we truly won.

Friday:  we did some weekly planning and it was good we had a lesson at Subway and that was good we then went and got half priced appetizers at this place called Grumpy Goat. So that was fun.

Saturday: We went by a ton of people and it was good we set up a lot of appointments and it was pretty good. We then had a companion study with our zone leaders and then went to lunch at this teriyaki house that was cheap and the owner gave us some free appetizers it was pretty good and a bang for the buck. We then went on a mini exchange with our zone leaders. I went with Elder Judy and we went too knock a complex, but then the other guys were AWOL and we realized that we both had the sim cards so what did we do ? We just ended up knocking and thank goodness for the tender mercies of the Facebook messenger.  We then got dropped off at some apartments and had to walk to our apartment in the cold it was pretty brutal plus with the ice it felt way worse.Elder Littlefield and I then got back to work and drove to Polk City and stopped by this part member family so it was great.

Sunday: We woke up and went to church and we were grounded all day because it was -20 degrees. So we had fun with that. We then had dinner and then chilled at the church and then went to the Ankeny Elders and then us and the zone leaders came as well and we ended up doing Come Follow Me time what a great blessing Come Follow Me is.

Today: We lifted and let me tell you I figured out some of the technics so I think I am going to improve a lot if I remember the technic.

Well I hope all of you have a great  week enjoy the warm weather (aka above 20 without windchill) so if you have above 20 degrees be grateful! Enjoy all the pictures of me at zone conference. Let me just say I was tired in the morning so I accidentally tied my tie way to short and didn't realize it until lunch. So let me just say if you're gonna tie a short tie don't do it at zone conference.

Love y'all,
