Dinocousins not Dinoco

Hope all of you had good week and got my cheezy cars reference.

Monday: We were just chilling it was a pretty good p day. It was spent relaxing just like a good old p day.

Tuesday: We drove down to Iowa City to go exchanges with the APs. It was a 2 hour drive from Des Moines to Iowa city so It was chilling with Elder Powell on our way we saw a tipped over diesel truck with turkeys in the back. Some of the turkeys might have had a premature death. I then went on a exchange with Elder Clark and we went around offering help to take peoples yards but no one was down.  We also talked to some people and then played some ball with some non members it was good ball.

Wednesday: We drove back to Des Moines this time we didn't see any Turkey casualties on the bright side. I was in the fast lane most of the time surprisingly even though we have a speed detector  called tiwi fyi people were going way slow. We then got some lunch and got to work.

Thursday: We had distrct council and the legend Elder Lowell he is legit like 6,7 and has the deepest voice ever. He is way funny I high key hope this guy makes the NBA. He gave a training about how to work with members it was a solid training. We then went on a exchange with The Waukee elders. I went with Elder Thomas who is a brand new missionary. I took him to grays lake and we walked around. I used my social skills to talk to people but most people shut us down. We did talk to a niceish guy who talked to us about Memphis football I talked to him about it thank goodness for my college football knowledge. He turned out to be a chaplain at the hospital and he ended up bashing with us because we didn't believe Jesus Christ is God. But I did manage to hold my ground. Well then we continued to walk around the lake and Elder Thomas asked me about some God head scriptures that I was showing him as we were walking. He then said L"ook at all the birds what are the odds they poop on us" I being preoccupied I was like "nah they won't" he then was like "look they pooping in the lake" Then I went back to the scriptures to feel a splat on my back. I was hit by bird poop smh. Of course with my luck.

Friday:We had apartment inspections

Saturday:We went by some people and it was great.  We then went and helped at the wards Halloween festival. We manned a cornhole booth it was pretty fun plus we got free dinner win win. We were dressed up as dinosaurs.

Sunday:  We had fast Sunday cause our stake had Stake Conference coming up this next Sunday. It was great. We then went and ministered to a member in the hospital . We then had a dinner with a family from Jamaica who are just straight ballers and made the best pork and chicken ever. Then we studied come follow me and it was so good. I really enjoyed this weeks lesson so yall should read it.

Pioneer Cousins

Monday: We had p day it was a pretty good day. We ended up going mountain biking in Iowa yes I know pretty wild. We went with a member and let me just tell I was trying so hard to keep up with the member and my companion and it kicked my butt but I did it and ended up being fun.

Tuesday: it was this thing called car appreciation day and so basically that means we couldn't drive our car at all. And we live like 20 minutes outside of our area in a car. So we woke up got ready and got walking to a lunch appointment in our area and it took three hours to get to our area it was about 4 miles to get to our area and then to get to the subway in Walmart it was another 5 miles so we barley got into our area at noon and then it took us till 2 to get our lunch appointment. And by the time our lunch appointment got over we were like well we better start walking back. Overall the journey was 18 miles. Elder Powell and I share a common great great great great grandfather named Abraham Hunsaker so we were talking about how him and his family had to cross Iowa and how we were walking around Iowa. It also made us appreciate our car. We left the apartment at 10:30 and got back at 7:30. The sad thing is we tried to talk to everyone we saw and only 7 people talked to us.

Wednesday: We had a exchange I went with Elder Uyuklu and I basically went and tried to stop by less actives and we went by a member and she had passed away and her granddaughter ended up being interested in the gospel.

Thursday:  Thursday was not that eventful nothing much happened in our favor that day

Friday: We had district council and had a blast getting to know our district and got to talk about our mission calls and what they mean. I thought it was cool considering I probably have only read it 2 or 3 times in general.

Saturday: We went by a lady who's name is Patience  and she flaked on us so I guess we need be patient with her lol. We also went and played some soccer with our guys Chase and Chance and we beat them in a soccer game. The only reason why I did good was because we made a deal if we won they would read the child Book of Mormon with us. So the spirit was on our side. I scored a few goals and Elder Powell is a wizard at soccer. We then got ready to read with them and then their non members mom took them somewhere so we weren't able to read also their ball got ran over RIP to the ball. We then tried to proselyte basketball at a court with people but then every one ended up leaving it was low key sad.

Sunday: We were supposed to have multiple lessons and they all flaked so it kind of been disappointing but church was good and it was the primary program so that was cool.

Des Moines with Cuz

Well I got transferred to the south side of Des Moines so that is pretty neat if you ask me. The airport is in our area so we always see planes flying low. My new companion is pretty cool he is from Roosevelt Utah. We also pulled out the family history app cause his moms maiden name was Hunsaker and we figured out that we are fourth cousins so that is pretty awesome. He is such a great guy we work hard and have so much fun it definitely is the best combo

Monday: Elder Burke and I walked around Fairfield and we ended up waking like 8 miles that day. We found a dope fijian couple and the husband played professional soccer.

Tuesday: I got transfer calls and got told I was going to Des Moines as a zone leader.

Wednesday: It was super p day and we ended up having a fun time I forgot my shorts so my zone leader Elder Taylor landed me some shorts for the day they were so baggy. It was kind of  sad saying bye to some people because I dont know if I'll see them again. Also it was way funny as we were driving back we drove through a amish town called kollona and they were driving the buggies on the road it was pretty crazy. I also said bye to some of these members so it was pretty great. I am glad that I had some good time in the Fairfield. Also freaky moment I was packing late that night and I shut off a lamp and then it turned back on I was so sketched and Elder Cricthfield was past asleep. Shout out to Elder Cricthfield for being a great comp the past 12 weeks.

Thursday: We drove to Iowa city where Elder Critchfield found out his trainee wont be coming out for another week lol. I said bye to some people it was still the same bitter sweet but it was great seeing some good buds and getting one last liniage picture. I then piled In to the transfer van with some guys. It was fun and I met a Elder from Stansberry Utah who is being trained in my zone. I then got to Des Moines and met up with Elder Powell and said bye to the one and only Tech Elder Meador because he was going home. He is truly such a homie from back to the Peoria days. We then helped some sisters in our zone move some furniture and put up some bed frames. We then had a dinner appointment with some other sisters that we are in a ward share with.

Friday: We had a get to know you district council as a zone and we had a great time. I was so happy to see Elder Stokes again it was pretty great. We also had a lesson that day with a lady and we are just trying to get them to come to church

Saturday: So elder Powell and I came up with a challenge for our zone to share a scripture 100 times and we got to 61 but it was fun talking to people. We went by a lot of people. And then we walked around a lake walk and talked to like 50 people and only 7 people let us share a scripture with them. There were some bald eagles nesting so we used that to start conversations it was pretty fun. We then ate cece's pizza it was pretty good

Sunday: We had church and our ward feels like a branch. We then went to work of salvation meeting with stake leaders and that was fun. We then had a dinner and then answered some phone calls.

Overall my week was pretty great. I am loving this transfer my zone is so awesome and so is my cousin!

21 years old, 20 months as a missionary

Well guys, some of you have been reading my emails for the past 20 months to this day. Isn't that pretty crazy! I have got to say it definitely feels like its went by fast but some times it feels like years. But I am grateful for the next 4 in half months I'll be a missionary.

Monday: So Monday we went to a town called Agency in between us and Ottumwa. For those of you who this means nothing to just remember its boonie Iowa(not Boone Iowa). We helped a member do some service for one of his neighbors removing tree branches. It was a good opportunity to serve and I am grateful we were able to do that. We then went to Ottumwa and played a card game called bang that is pretty fun. We then went to a dinner with the shaners and let me tell you it's always a hoot with them.

Tuesday: We got moving and did our morning exercise then we ended up going to the library and cleaning the disks like good old library service helpers. Then we came back had lunch. Then we went by some people and it was good. We then went and ate dinner with the curtis family and had a super super super spiritual imvidual mission planning session with them it was great.

Wednesday: We got in contact with a less active who is about 25 and super friendly. We stopped by him and got to know him his non member girlfriend also listened to us not to mention he was like 20 minutes late to work but wanted to talk to us. I am so grateful for experiences like these.

Thursday: We had district council Elder Critchfield gave a super great training and did some role plays that were fun. We then got taken out by a member in the Ottumwa ward to Pizza ranch. It's an all you can eat pizza place so that was good. I also ate a pepper and my whole mouth was burnt for probably a solid hour in a half lol. I drank a lot of diet coke and I couldn't get it to leave. It was pretty brutal. I then was able to go on a exchange with Elder Ackroyd. He is a new missionary and he definitely is loves the work which is a great quality.  We talked to a lot of people. We had some interesting conversations that went no where other then a conversation with a few high school kids. I definitely hope a good seed was planted with these young men. We also had a lesson with one of our people Corri and we had a super spiritual lesson with him on stopping smoking. He agreed he needed to stop and he wanted to be baptized. As we left and started to look for the other guys we came back because we were like if a kids lost in the grocery store they should just stay put so we did. Long behold we saw Corri smoking it was disappointing but everyone has agency.

Friday : We dropped off the other guys and then we had lunch with the guy in his 20s Stewart. We had a great time talking and getting to know him. He also expressed that he would like to show his non member girlfriend conference.

Saturday: it was the first day of conference and we watched both sessions with our bishop because a less active cancelled on the afternoon session but he set up a return appointment so that's more then a average less active. But it was great watching both of the sessions and seeing how the youth programs are going to change. Something that I really liked from Saturdays session was Terrance c Vinson talk about how when life gets tough just keep on trying and continue to obey the commandments.

Sunday: Well I turned 21 I so that's pretty neat. I opened some gifts and stuff so that was great. I also have been blessed for both years of mission having conference on my birthday. We went back to the bishops for the morning conference which was fun and he made banana bread. We then went to the Curtis family and watched the second session and had dinner where they made cafe Rio type burritos that were good and we celebrated my birthday a little more. Then I was able to call my family and talk to them and was able to talk to Brodie which is always a good time. Honestly todays sessions both had some really good talks but I will have to say my favorite talks where Preisdent Eyrings and the primary second counselors talk. I loved how Elder Eyring talked about how holiness leads to happiness. I also love how the primary second counselor talked about how we can all share the gospel. I truly love hearing from all of these inspired Servants of God.
