Week Three Shaq and Kobe

Well to begin Tuesday night the General Authority that came was Jeffery R Holland I thought he was going to roast us like he did with my dad when he went to Australia. He did not and he shared some great insight such as how missionaries are basically Apostles with a lower case a and he is an Apostle with a capital A. He also shared that our investigators and church members think we are perfect and that we need to live up to it. Overall his talk was so awesome. We also said goodbye to missionaries going to Independence Missouri they were all a great group and I consider myself lucky to be able to get to know them.  On Wednesday the district before us left so that was very weird basically nothing happened other than we taught our investigators and went to class. While we were walking to the class room after a meeting with a investigator, we walked past a group of people taking a tour of the MTC.  In that group were two little boys that waved at us. I waved back smiling at them because I realized that I was being an example and how Elder Holland put it we were probably assumed perfect by those little boys. On Thursday one of the Elders came up with a parable called the Shaq and Kobe parable which the whole zone of elders used in our trcs aka teaching our investigators. In this parable we are like Kobe always shooting up shots some going in some not going to go in, but shaq is like Jesus and will always get the rebound and dunk it to make up for the missed shot. Lol we all used it and it was successful in all of the scenarios that it was used in. On Friday we finished up with our investigator Andrew we had him for two weeks which is rare and we committed him to be baptized.(most of the trcs are members) it still felt good and we loved getting to know him. On Saturday we finished with Trevor who we only had one week with he definitely was such a cool dude he gave us NBA updates and after the Shaq and Kobe parable we committed him to baptism as well. On Sunday we basically had church all day which is kind of nice it wasn’t that eventful in all honesty other then we as a district went to the temple grounds. On Monday we finished up our classes for one last time which for most of the sisters it was tough on, but I am just ready to eat real food and get to Iowa. One teacher came into the room who served in Iowa and he said he heard gunshots in Davenport and Cedar Rapids so that’s fun haha. We also had a killer lesson Monday night on people that want to bible bash us. It was good cause it set some doctrine straight that some people did not believe me. This morning we had to wake up early, and go to the temple for a 5:40 session which was cool.  Overall this week has gone by so fast and soon I’ll be the baby again, but I look forward to being thrown into Iowa. I love and miss all of you so much and hope that all of you are doing great.

Week Two

Well to begin this week was so much better than the first week because
the first week was just a giant mess. Last week I taught a few
investigators which was cool they both went really well.  This week we
get to keep one of them. We got some new guys on Wednesday which was
good they are a good group of guys. I was sleeping on my bed and it
was killing my back in a room of four open beds and my companion
thought I was full of it so he jumped on my bed and was like this
sucks so then I switched beds. Around Saturday our MTC class got
mixed with another class and my whole district did not adapt well, other
than me so I guess I am just that great. On Sunday one of the new guys
was having a hard time so I went and sat and talked to him it was good
to help him out. Also on Sunday we had a MTC devotional which was good
but it is rumored tonight there will be an apostle so I am having my
fingers crossed for any of them. So something that I started doing while I am here is
I will watch a conference talks from Boyd K Packer before I go to bed
and it has blessed my life so much. So choose an apostle and just
watch a few talks if you guys want it is seriously so amazing. Also
how is the Book of Mormon going? I love you all and miss you so much !
Just a reminder I can email all day till 6pm.

First Week

This week has been the hardest week of my life. The first few days I
was pretty homesick and that was not fun. Also it has been kind of
rough adapting to the schedule and to having a companion. This by far has been
a roller coaster. Everyday that goes by goes a little faster but I
still have such long days. So I’ll start out by talking about when I
got to the MTC it was scary and the longest day of my life. The second
and third day were pretty long and discouraging as well. The fourth
and fifth have been pretty good I've just been trying to continue to figure out
some companion issues and we have been able to have some free time! I
tell y’all this because I know that our Heavenly Father is trying to
get the best missionaries in the field which is definitely a huge
challenge for me. I have felt all of your prayers and want to thank
you guys for it I love you guys so much and miss you guys so much!
Another cool thing that happened is I saw Wesley Holt from Kentucky.
It was such a blessing that I was able to talk to him and visit with
him I hope I see him again. Also, we had Taco Bell last night which was
good cause the food gives you a gut ach so it was the best gut ach I
have had this week. I can email till six tonight so be sure to email
me and I’ll get back to you . I love you guys and look forward to
emailing the best family and friends I’m the world.
