No Hablo Espanolo and BBQ

Monday: We were stranded in Creston which wasn't that bad cause we didn't waste miles. We then went and stayed the night with Osceola for zone conference.  So we got there later and we realized we didn't eat dinner so I got me some McDonald's which they had a 2 for 5 deal so I was happy. But that night I was not happy. I had a giant stomach ache so that was trash.

Tuesday: We awoke and went to Des Moines. I'll be honest that was one of the best zone conferences I had ever attended. It was actually pretty interesting.  It was also pretty cool seeing other missionaries cause we really don't see others out here. It was nice joking and messing around with some of em. It was way fun seeing some of my past companions who were pretty fun to get back into contact with. We also went to b dubs and they had the NFL network on and they were replaying the conference finals when cardinals played green bay play. It was cool getting to be homies with the zone as well because I had felt separated and not like I knew any of them. But now I am homies with them and it's all just dandy. We then went and got gelatas and at the place they called em giolito so idk what was going on there but that was nice. Never get chocolate custard on a one of those you will regret it guaranteed. Then I went and sat in on a Spanish lesson and let me tell you the Spanish elder could have been saying what ever he wanted and I would have just nodded my head in agreement.

Wednesday:We got dropped by our most solid guy so RIP. But the good news is I can make my guy John's baptism in Ankeny. Fyi I worked with him a lot and he is a big hunter I think I might have forgot to mention him in my previous emails but he is a goat. Loves hunting and was in the army for a while.

Thursday: We traveled to see a referral who was referred to us by her great niece who is on a mission. Fyi mount ayer is a small town that has some good vibes to it. We knocked on Jan's door and no one answered so we went around town and talked to some cool people. Including Bob was fixing his diesel and Elder Stewart was dying cause he loves diesels. So we talked to him. We then made our downtown and then around talked to some more folk then came back and jan was home so we talked to her and she was down. It was really funny cause she was drinking wine and she was like I am just taking me weekly communion. We thought it was pretty funny. I felt like I was teaching a rich person and to be honest it was nice cause half the time unless they are referrals we teaching in ghetto houses.

Friday:  We weekly planned and of course everything went well.  We also got fed dinner so that was a highlight

Saturday: we went to Osceola to fill up a baptismal font for a child of record for some reason Osceola couldn't do it. But them member was in our ward so we did it. The kid that got baptized is now a homie with us and at church he follows us around. And tells us all these funny stories. It's kind of cool just thinking about when my family lived in Kentucky and how the Elders would talk to all us young kids and make us feel cool. I definitely have figured out the elders were definitely having fun as well cause some of the stories an 8 year old kid tells are pretty funny. We then got fed by some non members who made us some ribs and we had a nice discussion about tornados.

Sunday:Church and linger longer and we pretty much just cleaned up the mess of our area book which other missionaries left so poorly.  But let me tell you church has been pretty awesome for the past two weeks I hope they keep it up cause I am looking forward to it. Also shout out to ty king cause he has been asking me for one for a while.

Sketchy House+Police Officer=Helping Police Officer Knock on Door

Well this week was just pretty neat if I say so myself.  I know the title is like the whole reason half of you are reading this email.

Monday: it was a typical day we arose and sent some emails and then went shopping. Got some supplies then I got 20 dollars in cash out cause we were going to go mob around this Amish Shop in Lamoni and we went down to Lamoni and went to this amish shop. The thing that triggers me is in this amish shop it was candy and stuff from OHIO not Iowa and I see amish people all the time out here. So I bought some candy and then since most of Lamoni is RLDS because Joseph Smith III lived there we went and toured his house. It was pretty interesting learning about their religion because it's pretty much ours and then Joseph Smith died then they were mis guided. So that was pretty cool seeing there stand point plus it was a cool old house with vintage stuff. I did feel bad because some missionaries that were with us were basically like why did you believe  this your wrong. I felt bad because the lady giving the tour was so nice.

Tuesday: it was car appreciation day which means we walked all around town talking to people. So we walked and went by people and we ended up finding our selves by Walmart so we bought Gatorade and chilled there for a hot second. We ended up walking 6 miles. So that was a great work out but it was 88 degrees with humidity which made it worse.  We also had some explicit stuff yelled at us which you usually here that stuff but we were kind of walking targets but we talked with some nice people though.

Wednesday: We had our last interview with President and Sister Badger. It was great. It is always so much fun talking with them and getting to hear all the rumors about Iowa city. Yeah RIP our mission headquarters is going to Iowa City. It is also pretty funny there is a senior couple in our zone and we call each other cousin cause we figured out we are distantly related. Plus they are just fun to be around we then went to Red Robin which I always forget how good it is. With our zone it was pretty great but kind of pricey.  We then went back to Creston and  barbecued on exchanges and ate some burgers.

Thursday: We continued our exchange and Elder Cionco and I went out and went by some people and at one of the houses that we went by a policeman pulled up and pointed at us and whispered to us hey come here. So we did what ever good missionary would do and we trotted quietly to him. He said do you all wanna help me out. We were like oh we would love to help you out. Granted we were like o man something crazy is gonna happen and we are going to have this awesome mission story.  He told us go knock on that door. So we did and then a lady came and said go away Jehovah Witnesses and we were like we aren't Jehovah Witnesses we are missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Then the cop went up and was like is so and so here and the lady was like nah she's probably off doing drugs. So moral of the story don't do drugs or you will get two missionaries and a police officer sent after you.  We then said thank you to the police man and he thanked us. It's good now because if he ever pulls a missionary over he will hopefully get em off the hook. We then bbqued and let me tell you. We literally had no food after the exchange and I barley ate we got raised pretty bad

Friday: we basically planned all day.

Saturday: We had a lesson with a guy named Rome who is wild. That man can talk for two hours. It was a good lesson. We then went by some folks. Then we went to Stake Conference, which was go to the Lenox building and watch it on a TV. So we went their and the Stake Presidency got reassigned. So there were two area seventies there and they were both way charismatic. We saw our whole zone on the TV made me feel kind of banished.  But Elder Brian K Taylor was awesome to watch. The Elder Spencer Griffin or Griffith was also a great guy. He is a rancher in Montana so he had some good stories. Plus the flow of how the meeting went was awesome. Plus the Badgers spoke and so that was a plus.

Sunday: They reorganized the Stake presidency and it was another great meeting.  I have not been as entertained by church meeting like this in a while for both days everything just kept you on your feet. We then came home and Elder Stewart was sick and then we went by some people.

Busy Week in Small Town Iowa

Let me start off by saying I drove so much this week  I did some calculations, and I could have drove to some places like Omaha or Kansas City and frankly anywhere within four hours. But I spent it driving in the rolling hills of southern Iowa haha.

Monday: We had to buy some stuff and basically relaxed all day it was kind of wack. Cause we were stuck in Creston and then Osceola.  So that was pretty much a average p day in the boonies I think

Tuesday: We went on a average exchange and did some service at a super creepy house that  was truly sketchy.  We went by some other people so that was pretty average . We then saw an old lady staring at us through a window in wrecked house it looked like a horror movie it was pretty crazy.

Wednesday: We finished up our exchange I discovered that the other Elder's apartment had a nice problem so.... I was sleeping in a mice infested house. So then we went and bought some mice traps and they still haven't caught one.So that's pretty crazy and then we had to help the other elders clean their apartment so that was just how it sounded. We then stopped by Chris and taught him the stop smoking workshop. Which is basically how to cold Turkey quit smoking or chewing. That went super well. He has one of the most sincere wants to change and be baptized that I have ever seen.

Thursday: We had district council and then went on exchanges with our zone leaders in Indianola and it was sick Indianola makes Creston looks tiny. I went with Elder Woodbury and it was cool getting to know him so that went well. Funny story we went by a member that is less active and her son opened the door and Elder Woodbury wanted to dunk on me so Elder Littlefield asked the kid for a ball  then he dunked on me, and then the mom came out and talked to us. It is pretty funny how that we had some dumb idea and the Lord used it as way to get in contact with someone.

Friday:We woke up and went to the gym the only approved one in the mission and I got a good workout it felt pretty great. We then did some service and I got a free University of Kentucky visor it's pretty neat. Then we taught a lesson to someone who was baptized this Sunday and she hooked us up with some tasty ranch chicken sandwich,  then we showed her some videos and taught her some last principles. We finished the exchange and then we drove to
Osceola for the rest of the day because we were going to car pool to a baptism with the ZLs in Ankeny but they were busy so we drove to Osceola and then. When the exchange started it was wild I used my tiny nascar knowledge to get this guy to open up and he had a wild life story. Seems like has been being prepared. Also the Elder that I was with from Minnesota we talked to a guy on a roof and he was awesome.  It was so funny cause he was just roasting Minnesota politics and some people they have elected the whole time. I was laughing so hard.

Saturday: We drove to good ole Indianola and car pooled to Ankeny. It was great seeing Keirra baptized and seeing the change in her. It is truly remarkable to see the change in people. The power of baptism is pretty strong. It was a great experience catching up with some of the members and her family.  Plus seeing a ton of other missionaries was also a plus. It was a all around great day. We ended up meeting with APs for dinner Elder Clark decided we should try buffet city . Well we did not know that it was going to be disgusting expensive Chinese food. But we had a good time there.

Sunday: we went to church and it was pretty great I mean it was such a great uplifting day. Then journeyed back to Creston from Lenox to the bungalow. Where we are some food for lunch then we studied and then went and did some planning that took forever. Then we called home it was awesome.

Side note what about them trail blazers I hope Damian Lillard can beat the warriors.

Kentucky Derby

Monday: So let's be honest today was so lit. We got fed Costco by a member down in des Moines I got to hang with some of my mission homies and ball. To be fair my ball has improved a ton while I have been on my mission.  Monday night is where this week gets edgy. We drove back to osceola cause we car pooled and legit we got to the elders apartment and realized that we had a flat tire so we had to stay the night in Osceola.  But it was a all around blast so much fun and thrill.

Tuesday: We got our car fixed so that was nice. Then we drove to Creston and then went and had a appointment with our homie Chris. We set some goals with Chris and he is so down and he knows a ton of members which is so great.

Wednesday:  we were going by some people and then ran into a person names Cassy (yes I spelled it right) and she was down to come to church. But she is cool and I totally see her getting baptized. This area is so blessed it. It was one of the most overlooked area in the mission tbh. I love all the people they are so great and wilid.

Thursday: We had district Council and then went on exchanges in Osceola.  Elder Peterson and I went down to this town called Leon and we talked to some highly intoxicated fellows. We then talked to a lady with a giant concrete Elephant on her porch. We then went and met a less active family and they were nice. We then headed back for dinner and the member that we went to's house has a giant boxer that is just ridiculous the dog has no chill and is just jumping around. Well then we ate then it got really dramatic cause then she started coughing so the other elders took her to the hospital.  We followed and chilled in the Er waiting room then dropped her off and waited for the relief society president to come watch her so we were running around till 11:30. I can honestly say that was a piece of cake back home but after 15 months of going to bed at 10:30 it got me good.

Friday: We drove back from Osceola and stopped by some people.  We then had a member dinner in Blockston which this town is so po dunk it didn't even have paved roads.

Saturday: We woke up and studied half way through my study Elder Stewart says hey let's go help these people move. So we got up and helped this girl move out and helped her unload her stuff at the new place as well. Her family was very appreciative and her friends and her were as well. All of her friends had souped up trucks and one of em had a challenger which made our 2017 red corrolla look like trash. It's funny tho cause a member calls our Corolla a sporty red car. So everytime we see a cool car we are like it can't beat our sporty red car.We then went and went to get a beverage and there was a sign right in front of us that said limited time edition Berry blast Dr. Pepper.  At that moment I knew it was destiny to get it. Then we saw our branch president and he bought us the dr pepper it was just such a awesome tender mercy.  We then did our weekly planning and then went to Mario's sports grill and ate some good burgers and another tender mercy was the Kentucky derby was on. Funny thing is that place is legit the Nintendo Mario so on their menu it had Mario and they had video game looking shirts on. We then went by some people found a solid person.

Sunday: We woke up Cassy called and told she wouldn't be able to make it but this next week she will. Usually people don't tell us if they can't make it so that shows she is down to learn. Our homie Chris was at church and he is gonna get baptized on June 1st so that is way exciting.  We then saw some random cows roaming by the road. #Iowaproblems  We then studied and we went and had dinner with some members it was great then we explored a lake.

Yo yo yo I have a request for all y'all should find a bible scripture that testifies of the Book Of Mormon or vis versa. It will bless your life plus you will be able to get more knowledge.
