Ankeny-Lenox

Hey what's up guys this week has been one of the best weeks of my mission but Ankeny was probably the toughest area to walk away from. But I am grateful to be in the Lenox Branch now. Yes you heard me right I am in a straight up branch. In the middle of Iowa. FYI,  I go to church in a house so that's pretty neat.

Monday: Lol Monday was a hoot so pretty much on the Sunday my comp  Elder Housholder ran into a chair rack but he is fine. But we were afraid of scaring so we had to take our fallen comrade to a plastic surgeon in Des Moines after we emailed. So we were running around in the hospital and all these people thought we were residents so I guess we looked smart. We then went and did exchange things as the day went on and all slept at the pad(my apartment).  I also said bye to Keirra and taught her one final lesson it was a great lesson but to get transferred when she has like 2 or 3 things left to be taught was hard but it's going to be awesome hopefully being able to come to her baptism.

Tuesday: after much anticipation. I got a call telling me that I would be going to Lenox. The good news is Elder Housholder had served there and basically all transfer told me all about how awesome Lenox is. Lenox is kinda hated on in our mission and called banishment. But I was pumped cause Lenox had been shut down for 5 weeks. I also said bye to the Cox's a super cool family that always had us over for dinner.

Wednesday: So basically this our p day during transfer week so it consisted of a bunch of fun.  We basically went to a park played tennis then played ultimate frisbee then got yelled at to get off the fields so they would look nice lol. So then we pretty much went and talked and said bye to each other. We also had one last bbq for the boys. I am going to miss all these Ankeny homies they are truly great guys plus our zone overall was bomb. We then went and said bye to the Bullocks a family that the parents went to USU and the kids plan to. Both them and the Coxs said I was one of their favorite missionaries. We then were invited to a baseball game at a member in the Ankeny ward so we watched a few innings cause we really had nothing else to do.

Thursday: We woke up and we said bye to each other. The ones remaining on this side of the mission me/Stoddard/Barker/Housholder and we picked up another missionary as well went to Mcdonalds with a recent convert then we went to Raygun a super overrated store that all the missionaries go to. I do not recommend that store at all, not good vibes at all. Then we went to a Scheels and that place was awesome.  I met my comp Elder Stewart and we drove from Des Moines to Lenox and had dinner with our branch president he is a great guy and can't wait to work with both the Branch President and Elder Stewart. FYI, Elder Stewart is from Jerusalem, Utah so he is from the boonies but he is a great kid and we have had some fun.

Friday:  We weekly planned and went by a few people and got a dinner appointment with an ex army sniper so that's gonna be fun Elder Housholder told me to go find him so that's what I did. He has a souped  up Ford Raptor.  We traveled to Osceola for district council and it is a highway city so its booming and we saw some Utah licence plates

Saturday: We were in a town called Corning going by some people who were supposedly being taught, but weren't down cause Elder Stewart and I are whitewashing so that means we are both new to the area. And a member spotted us and invited us for dinner it was a super good dinner and the members seemed super missionary minded.

Sunday: We had Branch Council and then we had church. The spirit was so strong in this little congregation. It was very humbling. These people most of them travel over 30 minutes to get there. You could tell they all had a desire to be there and be united. You couldn't help but feel the excitement and the enthusiasm of these good old Iowans. I know that this branch is going to grow and it is going to be magnificent to see this growth. I truly love the people in this branch even barley knowing half of their  names. We then went to track down more people and so we drove to all these boonie towns all in our area. We live in Creston which has about 7,000 people and a Walmart and Hibbet Sports and some local restaurants it's really a nice town. But the other towns are tiny. We were at one of the towns and we realized we were close to Missouri and so we thought we'd go check it out turns out we have like a sliver of Missouri in our area but, it's like barley any and all it has is a biker bar. So that was cool.

The sky is falling jk just computers

Monday: We got turnt and we gave a blessing then we started to play tennis and we were all way bad other then Elder Housholder so we were hitting the tennis balls over the fence so that was kind of funny. Then we all called home. I got a dank Iowa State hat that is so good. I then taught a Lesson to Keirra about the restoration and obedience and how to follow the prophet.

Tuesday: Tuesday we had a blitz and squaded up and we knocked with the Aimes Elders so it was me, Elders Stoddard, Barker, and Madsen and then we met up with Elder Roundy, Menaces, Gardiner and Figgins so we went to B Dubs and it took forever. So that was pretty crazy. Then we all knocked this apartment complex and then some lady started cussing us out and told us that she was gonna call the cops so we left and walked down the street to our enlightenment there was a softball game so we were all mad about this lady plus there was a guy packing a gun that we knocked into. So Elder Roundy and I were bitter. But we saw a few pitches. Then we went on with our day.

Wednesday: nothing really happened we had a 20 minute dinner with a member and then we watched the green sky but no tornados really happened.

Thursday: well we were looking for a baptismal suit for some elders in Des Moines and I taught two lessons and it was really, really, good some of the lessons were improv too. So we read Mosiah 27 with someone the other elders were teaching. It was cool Elder Barker knew he wanted to read the Book Of Mormon with her and I knew the chapter that needed to be read. So always listen to the spirit. Then in the second lesson the talk that we were going to show him did not come on so I picked a talk about the Book Of Mormon in the last October session.  Then my apartment got pranked so I was salty about that (Elder Littlefield, Caylor's last companion came to the apartment that wasn't locked and made a mess for Caylor and his current companion).

Friday:we visited some people that Elder Barker had in mind and had a dinner appointment that  all we did was talk about Star Wars. Then I went on my nightly walk with Elder Stoddard so that's always fun and Elder Madsen came as well we just walked around some ponds. Elder Madsen made some geese hiss at him it was kind of funny.

Saturday: Went to the Boonies and helped this hoarder move some stuff. I got stabbed by a rusty nail moving a door so that was not fun it was just a minor cut. Then a printer fell from a top shelf on my foot so that was pretty bad. That was pretty much my day. We were outside our zone because the member lives in the boonies legitimately 1 mile outside of Aimes so we went and washed up at McDonalds and got some food and drove back.

Sunday: We had church it was good day remembering the Savior. We also had a dinner appointment and then called home. While I was calling home my comp ran into a chair holder the circle bar on it so he got wrecked. So we had the zone leaders stay the night as well so we were monitoring him to make sure he didn't die . Lol he is fine tho . I also got to talk to Brodie so that is a plus. Then we went on our nightly walk it was sick.

Love y'all,

Zone Conference and then Lessons

Monday: We had p day and it was a normal p day of ball and stuff. So it was pretty typical then we had dinner and rolled up to a lesson with our homie Keirra and she is doing great and its so fun to teach her cause she has a desire to learn and most of my mission people really have not had a desire

Tuesday: We rolled up to zone confernce and I saw some homies. I saw Elder Stokes who was trained while I was training in my district so it was great to see him again and we were able to have a good time. I also saw a fellow River Hawk Elder Mortensen. He was living in south Dakota and for his senior year he lived in Cache Valley and let me tell you he is a homie. I also got to meet a lot of new sisters it seems like there are always new sisters showing up plus we are getting 18 in the next 2 tranfers hardly any elders till July so lol.

Wednesday: we taught Keirra the word of wisdom and law of chastity and that was pretty much the most eventful part of Thursday. We also planned a lesson for seminary on Friday that we were supposed to teach.

Thursday: we did our typical "Thursday's are for the Boys". We woke up and did some stuff and we were teasing each other all day. We also went and got spinach and artichoke dip it was a great time. And I got my strawberry lemonade for free again cause of our baller waitress.  We then played ball and then went to spend the night with Ankeny so that we could just wake up later for seminary and then we texted our homie Clayson and he told us seminary was cancelled thank goodness for being homies with the young men in the ward. We also set a date with another person named John Garcia.

Friday: we did some service at Goodwill and I worked on receiving. It was cool some people give good stuff.  Then we did some weekly planning

Saturday: We tried by a lot of people and and no one answered.

Sunday: We went to church and we were able to do studies and then had a "Come follow me" time with the other elders.

Thursdays are for the Boys

This week was a pretty solid week it was pretty fun and had a lot of hype.

Monday: We ventured to Altoona to go bowling at Bass Pro because we had a coupon for it. However, it expired on the first which it was the first so we were joking with the manager that this might be a April fools joke. To my delight the manger was not down and it was way expensive so we weren't bowling. Then Elder Barker wanted to go to a music  shop to fix his guitar and so we all went to this dinky one in the middle of nowhere and we all bought dumb instruments such as nose flutes, kazoos, and like a mouth harp or something. So this whole time Elder Judy and I  are on exchanges pretty much cause our comps are on a hike with the other district. Well we went to the church called our families and stuff and then to our surprise they didn't come back . So we went to our dinner and then we went to a lesson where we invited Keirra to Be baptized and she accepted and her dad was way supportive. So cool to see these great things happen.

Tuesday: we had interviews with The Badgers and it was a pretty typical interview cycle the district council was pretty much all about the safety zone, but me being an obedient missionary I had already watched them without being told by any mission leader. We then went to a subpar taco shop with our zone and  pretty much studied and then did some typical missionary work.

Wednesday. We did typical studies and then we went and did some morg time which is mormon.org
time. So we then went to lunch at my apartment with other missionaries. Well I had the idea to just make us go into trios and get back and so I went with the Ankeny Elders to my delight they were like you have to keep a secret and are you down to do this. Well since y'all know me I am not hard to persuade. So they threw a pair of shorts at me and a cut up shirt at me and I was like what are y'all doing. Then they said put it on so then I did. Then we showed up and it was a good old time because we had a bbq in full hillbilly style and it took the other elders off guard it was too funny. Then we got into normal clothes right after we teased the other Elders.

Thursday: Thursdays are for the boys as we call it in our district . Our zone leaders were with another set of Elders on an exchange so there were 8 Elders in Ankeny at one time. Plus it was one of their birthdays so we had a good time. We all worked and it was a great time. We do this thing where we do not eat lunch till 4:00 and then we go to this Tavern that has cheap appetizers and the waitress knows us so well she doesn't have to take our order. It was too bad cause this day we didn't have the same waitress so we didn't get the hook ups that we usually get. We then went to dinner with the birthday Elder and Elder Stoddard at a members house then we went and played basketball it was wild I stopped playing because it got to heated and I was not about to get injured plus I knew it was bad that everyone was yelling at each other of course none of the missionaries were so I bailed and just talked to Elder Delyhoyd.

Friday: We did our service and had another bbq lunch with the other Elders. Well after that Elder Housholder and I were doing a comp study we realized it was 2:15 and we had a lesson at 2. To our dismay we were still in service clothes so we threw on some clothes and hopped on the Bikes and started hauling to get to the appointment.  Well I was like going a decent speed but my comp was hauling we went through this ghetto alley way but it wasn't ghetto at the same time cause its Ankeny. Then we get on the side walk straight to our appointment and the side walk dipped down a lot and next thing I know I see my comp doing a front wheelie and I was like I guess that's cool but then I realized he was crashing but he did a front wheelie for about 12 feet then fell off his bike and then his bike flew over him probably another five feet. It was the most dramatic slow mo thing I have seen on my mission.  So I get to him and I am like you ok and he looks pretty distraught and he said to me I am fine but my favorite pants aren't. We then went to the lesson and no one was there so we called to get picked up and the other Elders were shocked cause Elder Housholder had wiped blood on his face to make it look worse then it was. He only scraped up his knee and a lil of his hands. We then went to a lesson with a less active family and then got taken by a member to Hyvee Hibachi which is like great value Huhot, but it is like the same price as well. Then he was "driving us home" but then he was like would it be ok to come to my place and help me with some wood so we said yes little did we know we would be moving lumber in proselytizing clothes.

Saturday: General conference we were at the church for the first session and the second one we went to the mission home it was a good time we had lunch there and then we watched conference it was good to see some people that I hadn't in a long Time.

Sunday: We had breakfast and watched Conference with a family and it was a good time.  Then the second session we watched with another family and they fellowship Keirra so they invited her to watch it with them and she came. We then had dinner with them and as we were leaving Keirra said I will see you guys tomorrow and she was hyped which made us hyped.

I hope y'all liked conference and I invite you to choose a talk and use it in your daily lives.

Sketchy Stairs

So my email got deleted so I am pretty salty about that. So sorry for this kinda low budget email.

Monday: We went out and I bought some pants, 2 for like $31 plus they are super good pants. We then played basketball and ended up biking to a lesson that was 5 miles away

Tuesday: We knocked and that is pretty much what happened the other boys were on exchanges so we had the car and they ended up bringing a grill to our house and now it is like the pad for dinners.

Wednesday: we had district council and we were the only companionship on time it was pretty great. We then went out and did typical missionary work.

Thursday: We went and did some stuff and then. We then worked and got stranded again for dinner. So we had to have the member come pick us up. We then went and played ball.

Friday:we did some stuff and basically and went on exchanges and went and did some typical missionary work. We went by some people and non of them were around .

Saturday: Elder Stoddard and I went to Ames and found some one. We also went on spiltzs with a priest and no one opened. A family was moving and they gave us the address and so we showed up and helped them it was a great time.

Sunday: church

Sorry for the short email just invite someone to come to conference or watch with you. I wish the email deleting was an April fool's prank but it's not.
