Christmas with the cousin

Monday : We were able to have a Christmas breakfast with our zone and we were able to do a white elephant as well. It was a great time then a member took us to raising canes where they ran out of fries and coleslaw its was pretty funny if you ask me.

Tuesday:, it was Christmas eve we really didn't do much other then relaxed. We had a dinner with our bishop and it was fun seeing all the different festivities and traditions other family's do. Then we went and played basketball with a few members and I played pretty well. Elder Powell and I then had the best Christmas eve of the mission.

Wednesday:  We opened our presents early in the morning then went to sleep. we then  woke up to a call to go give a member  a blessing and so went and gave a blessing and pranked the sisters in our zone that we were in the hospital it was pretty funny. We then talked to our family's for like 15 minutes and then got a call from some sisters saying their tires had been slashed on three of the four mission vehicles there. So we went down there to put the donut tires on. They all thought it was funny and weren't to upset about it. We then went to a dinner and was able to relax and chill with members and then we came back and I was able to talk to my family. Which was great and I was even able talk to Brodie for maybe the last time on my mission.

Thursday: Not much really happened just a normal day in the life of a missionary.

Friday:  I woke up early to get ready and to go to Nauvoo for what we call a sprint meeting. Basically it was just a meeting to to encourage us the last six weeks of our mission to leave it all out here. It was a great meeting definitely feel like it was inspired and enjoyed the four hour drive there with all the elders playing bean boozed and all of us about puked it was a great time. We then were able to go do an endowment session. The spirit of temple is so great. It was definitely super bitter knowing that this would be the last time as a missionary I stood in this holy house. It was also super bitter sweet being in Nauvoo one last time as a missionary. So many p days there so many temple trips there so many times we saw the pagent. It was all so bitter sweet. The meeting also was super reflective in my mind. It has definitely shown me how much I have loved my mission. I have loved it so much and I look forward to giving 110% for the last 6 weeks. We then had dinner at a Mexican place in Fort Madison and then drove back we got home at 11 but it was way worth it sleeping in my own bed.

Saturday: We did some less active work and we had a district council. Elder lowell gave a super good one. Then we had a dinner then went and delivered a bench to Eldet Thomas. I also did some studying about the church acquiring the historic sites in Palmyra for some reason and i really enjoyed it.

Sunday: We had church a linger longer and then we had come follow me time it was super great I enjoyed it .

Woah the Cousin can sing

Monday: Twas p day and so we chilled at a members house waiting for other elders laundry to get done cause we landed our car to some members of our zone who's car was in the body shop. Then we went to Panda Express.  Then we went and chilled at the church. Then most of the zone went to Indianoola Iowa and we Christmas Caroled I was on exchanges with Elder Briggs who is a new missionary from Tooele Utah and he was just telling me how he blew up stuff. But it was fun most of the zone was there and so many people were delighted by our simple act of caroling #lighttheworld.

Tuesday: We finished the exchange with Osceola and let me tell you Elder Briggs and I walked for days and literally none of the less actives answered but I got to know him a little more and hear all about Camden new Jersey cause he lived there

Wednesday: It was MLC so we went down to Iowa city and talked about ways we could improve the mission like usual so that was alright. The social aspect if it is great tho. I also was surprised to see Elder Burke one last time before he went home so that was cool. There were so many other missionaries that just amazing that I saw. We drove back and Des Moines zls got a visa waiter well i had the privilege of sitting in the on the hump between two other elders. But I got to know Elder Steck and he is a stud. Then we got back to Des Moines and went to b dubs (of course we did)

Thursday: We helped some people out and helped some members move a washer and dryer then we went to a dinner and ate some huge steaks like they were so big and the member was like sorry I just wanted to do somthing quick and easy.

Friday: We had district council and it was so good. We then went by some people and then we ended up caroling again this time it was in Grimes and we sang at a old folks home some of them got into it was that was super awesome to see really makes it worth it when you see people happy even if you feel bad for them having to listen to your horrible voice. But at least we had some sisters who can sing and good ole elder Powell with a voice. We then had a missionary meeting with ward that took forever but it was good.

Saturday: So we knocked a few doors cause our mission president said we could to share the Christ child and let me tell you I was so excited just like old times. Funny story the first door we just got yelled at and cussed at and I was just laughing because it was literally the first door we knocked on hahaha just like old times. We did missionary work and then played ball with this non member who is a former college basketball player so that was cool I was actually decent so that was great.

Sunday: Church was great we stopped by some more people. Most of them had an aggressive dogs so that was interesting trying to dodge that bullet. #doitforthestory We then ended up doing another caroling session and everyone loved it in this neighborhood so many people where thanking us and telling us how no one Carol's any more and one lady had lived in the United states for 27 years and had never seen carolers before. So that was really awesome.

Well considering its Christmas week I hope you all have a merry Christmas and enjoy the the holiday. I am super grateful for the birth of Jesus Christ so he could come and set the example and give us hope. And set a way to return to our father in heaven.

Throwing it back old school with the cuz

Monday: Well we just went and chilled at the church it was a good time  it was a pretty typical p day then we got fed by a member and we were able to eat pizza and relax.

Tuesday: Elder Powell was sick but towards the early afternoon we were able to go out and do some good work and it was pretty fun.

Wednesday: So we got ready to go and then we went and helped at the bishop store house. I am finally figuring out how that works haha only took me 2 times. Then we went to do a baptismal interview and the person. Then we went and got some grub with some of our zone at canes. Then we went and had our interviews with president and Sister Sturm. They basically just asked how long I had left and its pretty crazy that I am in the single digits of weeks. It was a pretty great jammed packed day and then. We ate at a members and it was good but low key awkward.

Thursday: we had another baptismal interview to do so we did that and he passed as well and I conducted the interview. We then went by some people pretty typical I know.

Friday: we raked leaves from like 9 to 11 and then we went to lunch to a indian buffet with a member it was better then all the Indian food I had in maharshiville (Fairfield)  we then went back to raking till almost 3 o clock then we went by a member in bad health where he told me he was related to Tyrone Corbin and I had to inform him his cousin was fired almost six years ago lol by the Jazz. We then went back to study and it was a great study session.

Saturday: we were able to attend the baptism of the two people who we interviewed it was pretty cool. Then a member said everyone in attendance could get free food at his restaurant which a Brazilian all you can eat restaurant so we ate way good for free and then we went by a few less actives. I then finished reading the old testament. And I can tell you guys for sure that it is inspired by God a lot of people overlook the old testament and I am grateful for that door that I knocked 21 months ago when that person asked me if I read the bible every day and I took the challenge to do it. It was definitely  a long book but a good one. I am trying to finish the New Testament and Jesus the Christ before I go home.

Sunday: We had a really good sacrament meeting that was great. A miracle that happened is one of my the less active brothers that we have been working with we stopped by him at like 8 and he came to church because he said you guys came to my house in the cold and in the dark the least I can do is come to church and he enjoyed all the talks. He is super cool.

Aye also Shoutout

Crazy crazy week with the cousin

Monday: We went to the Iowa museum right by the Iowa capital building. It was way cool. My nerdy side was thrilled there was a ton of exhibits but we only went through like three of them but one was just a wolly mammoth exhibit and the other two one was how Iowa was affected by the civil war and Iowa and presidential campaigns.  We then went to Waukee and played this game called coup. Its basically a game where you have to bluff and I got wrecked.

Tuesday:It was zone conference. I only have one more to go so that's weird but it was good we got some adequate training. We then went to Chipotle after and my stance on Chipotle is still the same 1 word overrated . But it was a good day just seeing everyone and being around then was great though. Then we went and played some basketball with some members and non members and it was not my best outing but I made some good plays.

Wednesday: We ran into a lady that offered us free hair cuts so that was cool we then went to subway with some other Elders. Then we went by some people and called all the people that the ward has idea that exists

Thursday: So it was the same thing calling and knocking on less actives doors. It was low key cold but it wasn't that cold I guess. But a crazy weird thing that happened to Elder Powell and I we were sitting in a line on a no turn on red in our car. There was a police officer that almost went like three times and then the fourth time she just punched it. Well at that moment a old lady walked in the road walking her dog and she went flying and then landed on the ground her dog was fine and it looked like she was okay for the most part. But seeing someone get hit was pretty crazy ?

Friday: So we went by some people and it was great. I made a promise to elder Powell we would go to Cici's pizza if we we stayed together so I was just keeping my promise two weeks later. It was good but Cici's takes a toll on the body. Then we went back to the apartment and were messing around with whipped cream and sprayed it on each other. Elder Powell threw the can at me and the top impaled my hand so now I have a huge cut in the middle of my hand lol.

Saturday: We went some of our people and invited them to the ward Christmas party and then went by some other folks as well. We then went to the ward Christmas party and talked to a lot of different people it was also when I pulled out the Christmas sweater from last year for last years zone conference cause we couldn't be festive this zone conference.  So that was cool and then some non members wanted to play some basketball. So yeah we played some ball again but it was fun and is definitely a missionary tool. God knew what he was doing when he put a basketball court in the church. Just goes to show how much he cares for each individual one of us.

Sunday: Since we are zone leaders we had a ton of meetings today so basically we had 1 ward meeting and we had 2 long stake meetings that took forever we then went home made food and by that time it was time to watch the Christmas devotional which was way good if you missed it you totally gotta watch it. It was pretty entertaining. Also shootout to Elder Powell and I for giving a training to like 24 people including the mission president.

Moving people with the cousin

This week was a solid week. We did a lot of moving so we added to our muscles I guess.

Monday: It was a great p day we hung out and had a good time.

Tuesday: We had mlc which is where all the stls and zls meet up and end up discussing goals and other things. It was super long but had some good discussions.  We then drove back and went through some boonie towns gotta love the boones. It was great seeing some great missionaries. It was also weird to see a missionary from cache valley one last time before he goes home.

Wenesday: We helped at the bishops store house which was great it was definitely something else alot of people where helping so there was a ton of people which was good. We then ended up dropping off some of the food orders. Then we had a lesson with a member that was found because we belive his records are in South Dakota or somthing. That ended pretty well he still has a lot of questions that hopefully we can answer for him.

Thursday: We got together and did some morning sports. So we did that and then had some breakfast together.  It was great socializing and getting physically fit in the morning.  We then went home and both elder Powell and I called home and talked to our families. Pretty crazy that this was my last Thanksgiving in the field just saying. We then went to a dinner and it was a pretty good dinner definitely better then last years. @elder Critchfield definitely knows what I mean haha. But fun fact both Thanksgiving dinners had record players playing. So that is kind of funny.

Friday: We basically spent all day helping a old lady move. So that took like three or four hours. Then we went and helped a recent convert with her and her parents and that was super fun. We helped them get a their Christmas tree out of their attic and all that fun stuff. We also helped them rearrange their house a little bit it was super fun. The recent convert mom was a little old lady that was just the most wilid old lady ever she had us call her grandma and if this means anything her favorite movie is fast and furious and she loves those movies. So she was pretty funny. I also talked to the her dad who worked and john Deere for like 40 years. It was super cool and both of them were not members.

Saturday: We had district council. Elder Lowell did a awesome job with his training. We then helped another family move and that took three hours but it was pretty fun. Our ward mission leader bought us some soda so you already know we both were super grateful for that.

Sunday: we went to church and did some studies and then rearranged our apartment.
