Ankeney, Iowa week 2

So pretty much as you could probably tell I have no idea what I should have named my weekly but enjoy it.

Monday: We just chilled at the church and we then went to sonic and my homeboy Elder Scoresby got me to get a new type of slushie and it was so good I forgot the name of it lol. We also went to this family's house and it was super fun they did a nativity which was super cool. They also gave their dog root beer I was dying with laughter. My companion and I  then went back to the apartment and realized we watched and played all the same games as kids so we were dying laughing for like two and a half hours so much that Elder York ended up puking.

Tuesday: It was Christmas and we woke up and we opened all of our lit presents which was pretty fun. We then went over to another family's house and the parents had both gone to Utah State and their oldest daughter is currently going to Utah State it was good to see other Aggies and I had a good Utah State conversation with them it was pretty lit. We then went over to this family named the Dixons and that is where I called home it was super awesome seeing everyone including Brodie who is in the Philippines.  It was way cool seeing everyone and just having a good ole time with them

Wednesday: We had interviews it was pretty awesome I love seeing the Badgers they are always so cool. President Badger gave me a talk to read cause I talked a lot about being ambitious and he liked it. Then I talked to sister Badger and she told me I am highly requested around the mission haha so I guess people like me a lot. We then went to Five Guys it was pretty good the shake I got was trash tho I highly don't recommend a Five Guys shake haha.

Thursday: We pretty much knocked and had some lessons it's pretty cool everything is just so much easier here and it is way cool everyone we try by is so nice and actually wants to hear what we have to say.

Friday: We did our weekly planning and that took a while cause we were really trying to address the needs of one of our people which was really tough.  Then we had a lesson with Naomi and  it was pretty crazy we felt super good about except we don't really know how to go about it Haha.

Saturday: We did some service and it was pretty crazy we moved like 50 computers for this ward member so it was pretty crazy. We then went by some people and it was pretty cool.

Sunday: We had church and it felt like a legit ward it was crazy I was expecting like good food when I got home and then realized I didn't have my parents to make me good food haha. We then went to these random towns and it was crazy. Then we went to dinner and I talked about the Jazz for days.

Monday: We helped a family move and it was a good workout.

Christmas Call

On Christmas night we were able to talk to both Caylor and Brodie at the same time. Caylor wanted to make sure that his hour and half that he had to call home was spent with Brodie too. It was a little tricky managing everyone's times zones and setting up the call, luckily for us p-day was Christmas Eve (Sunday and Monday for us) for both our boys and we were able to work out all the details and let them both know the plan. It was a little tricky scheduling a time that worked for all of us. It was actually December 26 for Brodie and Christmas night for the rest of us that live in the USA. Brodie and Elder Bulter had to get up very early to make sure that they got to the internet cafe and got the only two computers that had a camera that worked so that we could see Brodie's beautiful face when he called on google hangouts. Brodie actually called an hour earlier than originally planned. I think Caylor panicked a little thinking he might miss talking to Brodie, but Brodie had more time to talk than Caylor did, and Brodie was on the call with Caylor until Caylor had to say good bye.  It was great to be together virtually as a family. My favorite part was our family prayer. Only two more calls home for Caylor and three more for Brodie, but who is counting?

Christmas Eve

Notes from Mom: On Christmas Eve I received a text from someone in Iowa. I love that others love the missionaries too, and invite them into their homes, feed them and let them be apart of their family for a little bit. It was fun to know what Caylor was up to on Christmas Eve, and that he was surrounded by a family that loves the Savior.

The Promise Land

Monday: We had a quad blitz in Havvana, Illinois it was super lit we had such a good time we visited some people it was super cool. We had a good time and then in had to leave the room when we were doing family history with their branch cause I got exposed to walnuts but i just walked away so i was fine. Then I went and got some subway haha.

Tuesday: We getting up and getting transfer calls I got sent 4 hours a cross the mission to go to Ankeny, Iowa. Then we found out Galesburg got rested so it's basically closed for a transfer, which is sad but my trainee got sent to Aimes, Iowa.  Then we went and said bye to our person being taught Butch and he gave us his conversion story, which was super awesome and then said bye to the Butlers and their sons where so sad to see us go it was pretty cool to see the influence we left on those little kids.

Wednesday: We had super pday and just relaxed all  day we also played football two hand touch of course and it was super fun I haven't had such a awesome workout in forever. Then we went IHop and let me tell you it is not worth it anymore everything is so expensive it is just average food. As we are leaving  i found out there was a Penn Station in Peoria and I almost went last minute but didn't. We then went and said bye to some members everyone was super sad that the missionaries where taken out.  It was super bitter sweet cause I had been there so long but we started having consistent lessons with people when we left.

Thursday: Transfer day was super fun i drove four hours and it was long It was super sad to see my trainee go but I know he will do super good. I am really excited for him . I then got a linkage picture with my trainer and it was lit. Then I met my zone and there are two sisters from cache valley but from sky view so LOL I am like the only Ridgeline in a full Skyview Cache Valley mission haha.

Friday - Sunday
Basically are lit we have found 3 people and we had some lessons for days and it was pretty cool. There are some members who like Utah state so I have been having s lit time in Ankeny it is so cool. Then on Sunday the sisters had a baptism and we went and taught the restoration and I was able to participate in the confirmation it was pretty cool

Overall I have a fat crush on this area and my companion is super lit.

10 Months Later

Well this Thursday I get transferred and I think I am going to Iowa. I think I am going to Manchester Iowa but I could be completely wrong so don't take me up on that yet. I will know tomorrow morning

Monday: we went and played some ball I am so bad I got booted. So I haven't really played much this transfer, but I'll just get thrown to a zone where my skill isn't that bad. Haha I was talking to an elder trying to play pro ball and he told me my basketball skill was alright so maybe I improved a little bit cause I used to be trash. Well then we went back and had dinner it was neat.

Tuesday: We had a triple blitz in Canton and I went with Elder Stokes and we got lost we found a new person though who was super yoked. Man Elder Stokes is such a good guy he is new to the mission field only been out a month but he is way funny and we are just chilling doing fun stuff while working all day.

Wednesday-Thursday
We pretty much knocked and had district council which was our last one of the transfer.

Friday- weekly planned and knocked doors and had dinner with a super awesome family.

Saturday: we had super dope lesson with one of our people who is a teenager and he is super down.we also found two more people we had lunch at b ws and saw a tiny bit of the USU game

Sunday we taught chase and it was great he is progressing way fast which is good but we will have to get consent from his parents to baptize him.

This week was kind of bland so sorry for the boring email

Car Breaks and Zone Conference

This week started out like a normal p day. So we were going to the mall and went to ross. Then we went to panda express but my companion Elder Anderson left something in our car so we went over and inspected it and basically it was dead so we were like we ain't gonna lose our p day cause of some car problems so we just road around with the Havvanna Elders. We then went to Bass Pro Shop and then we went to Morton to play ball with everyone while the stake center was being used in Peoria we had to go to Morton. So then a few Elders got in the car and went and got some ice cream we then went to Walmart where I got an ugly Christmas sweater for zone conference. We then drove back to the mall and we tried to jump it but it failed

Tuesday: I went and did some service with Elder Smith. It was kind of weak it felt like you were more of an employee then a volunteer. But it was alright. We then drove back to Peoria to try to jump the car again but no luck so we got it towed and then had to wait another day

Wednesday: we drove to Peoria and picked up the car in the middle of the afternoon so our day was pretty toast then we had dinner with a family

Thursday:  It was zone conference it was pretty awesome seeing everyone that I hadn't seen in a while and stuff so that was cool. We then had B Dubs for zone dinner in Galesburg due to a new rule that we have to eat dinner in our zone. So we did that. Then Havana Elders stayed the night because their area was far away and black ice was everywhere.

Friday: We pretty much did all of our studies and went out and did some work, and some cleaning cause our apartment would be inspected on Saturday then had dinner.

Saturday: We got our apartment inspected and then I had a really bad head ache so we relaxed and then did all of our studies.

Sunday: We had church then we had a lunch with a member, usually we never get lunch with members so it was cool. Then we went out studied and then got 3 hours of knocking done it was pretty sweet. We found two really solid people. Their apartments was by a movie theater so that was cool because I have no idea when the last time I saw one. Then we had dinner.

Snownados

So last Monday we were stranded in galesburg and played some ball with the Kewanne elders and Walmart was closed so that was different. But it was pretty ridiculous Utah knows how to handle snow galesburg was like completely shut down so that was crazy. Then the ice was pretty bad so we ended up going to b dubs and getting the tender mercies of Monday night football.

Tuesday: we went and did some return appointments so that was good and we ended up setting other return appointments.

Wednesday: we had exchanges with the zone leaders in Peoria and I went with my old companion elder glenn it was pretty awesome we had some good times just like we used to. It was pretty fun we found some people and it was pretty cool. A ton of people asked for money so that was interesting but we found a ton of people and then went to Buffalo Wild wings and saw the  Jazz beat the nets so that was cool.

Thursday:  we had interviews with President and Sister Badger and it was pretty cool. It's always nice talking to them and seeing other missionaries it was pretty fun. We then got back and we had to watch some videos about light the world and area book so that took up most of our night.

Friday: We worked our tails off and went by a lot of people and helped one of the people we are teaching realize Joseph Smith doesn't take away from Christ he just helped restore his gospel and doesn't take away from him. We also went to b dubs to see some again and we saw some of the jazz game  so that was cool.

Saturday: we were out working when a mad storm hit us we went inside and then after it left we went back out just to be told we had to stay inside all around our zone got hit by nados good thing no one was injured except a few wineries and stuff but that ain't a lose haha

Sunday: church and we helped host a thing called festival of the nativities in Peoria it was sick and we ended up staying the night in Peoria. Shout out to usu for going to a bowl haha. Their intern head coach is a pretty cool dude who I home taught haha go Aggies.

Monday: We woke up went around the mall and bass pro shops and we are bowling right now it's pretty sick. We had lunch at panda and I saw the legend bobby Wagner make a pic six haha. This week has been sick.

Love you all,
Elder Caylor Hunsaker

Pics should consist of us doing work in the snow and us running around Peoria with elder Mather and elder Stokes and of course my companion Elder Anderson  (Mom added the picture of him by the Christmas Tree at Bass Pro Shop)
